8430 Tractor Sets fuel-efficiency record

A John Deere 8430 with PowerShift Transmission was tested at 100 percent PTO load at rated engine speed, and delivered an 18.65 Hp-Hr/Gal result during official tests at the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab.

Horsepower-hours per gallon is the benchmark for making a comparison of efficiency between other John Deere models and competitive models. Read directly it means: If you burn 1 gallon of fuel at full load at the rated engine speed, how much horsepower is produced for an hour. A higher number means that tractor systems are doing a better job of effectively using fuel burned and creating usable power.

In fact, the 8430 is 8.8% more fuel efficient than the 8520. The 8030 Series features the new PowerTech™ Plus 9.0 L engine, an improved PowerShift transmission, and the new Vari-Cool™ cooling system.
